For the 2023 release, the blend consists of a USA Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper, and a binder and filler composed of premium tobaccos from Nicaragua. Crowned Heads chose My Father Cigars to develop the blend and produce the cigars because of their expertise in the handling of broadleaf tobacco. The cigars are handmade in Nicaragua. The La Calaveras brand is themed after the Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday that is a celebration of life and remembrance of friends and family members that have passed on. The cigars band features four coins that bear the initials of four people who have died the previous year. The initials change with each release.
